Text Box: To the students of Smith Center Junior High: I want to warn you about the H1N1 virus. The virus has been in 43 counties in Kansas.
The symptoms of the H1N1 virus are: Fever greater than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, sore throat, respiratory congestions, in some cases diarrhea and vomiting
If you are an individual with these symptoms you should get medical help right away!
To prevent this from happening: wash your hands often, use hand sanitizer, and avoid touching Text Box: your eyes, nose, and mouth. Elderly people need to get plenty of exercise, eat a balanced diet, and drink plenty of water.
The public health officials are working on making a better vaccination to cure the virus so that no one else gets infected.

Text Box: Smith Center Gets a New Track
Text Box: I talked to Mr. Meitler about our track and found out some information about it. It’s supposed to be done one week after the Norton game. There are different people building the track. There are the Hall Brothers from Marysville, Fishers Text Box: Track, and WJH are building the field events. They started May 18th and it will take 5 months to build this track if they get it done when they wanted to. This track will have 8 lanes instead of 7 and it will have more cushions so we Text Box: should have less injuries. It cost $550,000 and RD Hubbard gave $200,000, Mark Simoneau contributed $15,000, others gave $50,000, and the rest was from the school.
