Advisory Periods

Every Thursday and Friday we have an advisory class period at the end of the day for a little over thirty minutes. In advisory there are the good kids, who use the time wisely and get their homework done, but also have the kids that just sit there and do nothing during advisory. But what happens when students don’t have homework and the teacher tells them to read?  Many are done with all their reading or you just don’t want to read?  Our advisory periods are mainly intended for a study hall time, club, or class meeting time. Also for when we have pep rallies at the end of the day, or when we have to leave early for sports. The advisory periods were originally in the morning, so it was the first class they went to.  Every school is on a minute’s schedule, meaning there are so many minutes that we have to be in school everyday. Right now we’re in school for about four hundred and seven minutes a day, which is right around the required amount. So, all in all cutting advisory wouldn’t be the solution. Instead, what if we shortened advisory by adding more minutes to lunch?  Class or club meetings could be held during lunch instead of during advisory. Instead of having say thirty-five minutes of advisory, we only have twenty? That way we are still able to have class or club meetings during lunch, which wouldn’t interfere with other classes. Also, when we left for sporting events we wouldn’t be missing any important classes, just a study hall time. Advisory could be made into somewhat of a fun class period if we shortened the time so it wasn’t so long.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel is a 2009 American live-action comedy film and sequel to Alvin and the Chipmunk staring Jason Lee, Zachary Levi, David Cross, and Wendie Malick. The film also features the voices of Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Christina Applegate, Anna Faris, and Amy Poehler. The film features Alvin and the Chipmunks and their female counterparts, The Chimpettes. They both want to be in the school music competition but only one can win. You will have to watch the movie to find out who get to be in it. The movies original air date was March 19, 2010 but it was moved up to a December 23, 2009 release instead. Even though this movie only received 1 out of 5 stars it was very family orientated movie and you and your family should take the time to go and see it. I thought that it was very cute and funny.
