Text Box: Smith Center Jr. High Volleyball participated in the Hays tournament last Saturday. There were some great games along with great plays at the Hays High school. In the first game the Lady Red 8th grade played Felton. The first set was won by Smith Center 25-17. Colbie Decker, Lynzee Mace, Rachael McDowell, and Alyssa Hobelmann all played very aggressive at the net. Sierra Rogers, Kendra Gooder and Jordan Baxter had some amazing passes to our setters Kaitlin Albert, and Taylor Haven, who also had great sets. The last set was 25-19 SC The second game was played against Kennedy and won 25-16. Kaitlin Albert started the game off with 5 aces. Colbie Decker had an awesome hit then Lynzee Mace fired back with another one. Our serves were great all game with Alyssa Hobelmann serving Text Box: for 7 points. The Lady Red played Phillipsburg in the third game. This game was by far the hardest. We started off the game with some really good serves and were ahead. Colbie Decker and Lynzee Mace teamed up and had two really good blocks that dropped down on P-burgs side of the net. Alyssa Hobelmann and Kaitlin Albert had some great spikes also. P-burg had some hard hitters, but they were no match for the SC coverage. For most of their spikes Jordan Baxter, Sierra Rogers, and Kendra Gooder covered well and our setters gave the hitters good sets to spike. Our match with P-burg went Text Box: into 3 sets. SC won the first, P-burg won the second, but SC came back to crush them 25-18. That game was intense. Last but not least we played Hill City. In the first set Kaitlin Albert and Taylor Haven went at least 9 aces in a row and had some great sets. Our coverage was great this game, only a couple times did the ball drop. SC won the game 25-16 to finish the great day off. By: Taylor Haven Text Box: Smith Center Demolishes the Hays Tournament Text Box: Aliens In the Attic Review By: Alyssa Hobelmann Text Box: The movie Aliens in the Attic is about 6 kids who mysteriously find aliens in their vacation house attic on the 4th of July. The aliens think that humans are very vicious life forms. The kids decide to scurry these weird looking aliens back to where they came from. This movie Text Box: has a bunch of effects such as the part without gravity. The kids had to destroy the device in order to stop the aliens from getting to their parents. If the aliens got to the kids parents they would use a brain control device on them so they could take over the world. The brain control Text Box: device does not work on kids so the kids could take on the aliens. I thought this movie was very entertaining and hilarious.
